PokerStars Championship Panama has brought three cash prizes for Steve O’Dwyer. First, it was the $50,000 Buy-in No Limit Hold’em Super High Roller Event, in which O’Dwyer finished fourth. At this time, O’Dwyer finished fourth, scooping a guaranteed prize portion estimated to $182,220. Then, the player ranked 48th in the $5,300 No Limit Hold’em Main Event of the Championship, winning $7,720.
And now, it was Steve O’Dwyer who emerged as victor from the PokerStars Championship Panama High Roller event, taking home a massive prize of $240,451 after a two-way deal with his last standing opponent.
The High Roller event in PokerStars Championship Panama gathered a large players field of 110 entries and 26 re-entries. The event offered a buy-in of $10,300 and featured a massive guaranteed prize pool of $1,067,000.
O’Dwyer started the final day of the High Roller event as a chip leader after facing the fierce competition of Sam Greenwood and Francois Billard. At the bottom of the ranking was the member of Team PokerStars Pro Felipe Ramos, who was also the first one to get eliminated from the final table. For a short while, O’Dwyer lost his chip lead to Francois Billard, who was one of the main contenders for the High Roller event’s title.
Soon after some reshuffling in the leadership position, Steve O’Dwyer regained his chip lead, until only him and one other player remained in the game. At the time when the heads-up play started, the Irish had a 4-to-1 chip lead to Sam Greenwood, but after a while, the forces were almost equal with O’Dwyer having 3 million in chips and Greenwood holding close to 2.5 million. Then, the two of them decided to have a talk over an eventual two-way deal and soon reached an agreement.
Under the terms of the two-way deal, a small $8,589 portion of the prize pool and the event’s trophy were set aside for the winner. It did not took long for the Irish player to take down the event, leaving his rival on the second position and winning the big prize.
With Steve O’Dwyer taking down the event winning the $10,300 No Limit Hold’em High Roller title and a cash prize of $240,451, the Canadian Sam Greenwood remained on the runner-up position. He was granted with a prize of $223,149 for his efforts. Another Canadian – Francois Billard remained occupied the third position in the ranking, winning a total of $123,780.
The fourth place was taken by Chris Hunichen from the US, followed by the Team PokerStars Pro member Felipe Ramos. As Casino Guardian reported yesterday, Anthony Zinno remained sixth, after failing to reach to the final table. The seventh position in the ranking was taken by the Argentinian Damian Salas, while Sam Cartier remained eighth.
